Description
Chainmaille or chainmail is one of the earliest forms of metal armor consisting of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. Warriors and soldiers generally used it between the 3rd century BC and the 16th century AD in Europe, and longer in Asia and North Africa. Although most historical chainmaille is armor, jewelry techniques were also used by cultures as diverse as the Vikings and the ancient Egyptians. We don’t need chainmaille armors today, but chainmail jewelry is here to stay.
